The problem is that it causes the DCEU to lose out on having solo Batman and Superman trilogies when Snyder is wasting their supporting cast and quickly running through his JL movies where he'd turn Supes evil and kill off Batman. WB was trying to build their own MCU, while Snyder was trying to tell his own tight story that killed off important supporting characters (and eventually important characters like Batman), as he built to the end of his story. You have WB with other directors on one side making Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Shazam, as they tried to make other movies to expand the DCEU, and then they had Snyder on the other side handling Batman and Superman and setting up JL, but Snyder only had that clear, short vision in mind. That's the problem with WB hiring Snyder to make these movies while they were trying to create their own cinematic universe to rival the MCU. Hell, part of me thinks Tao Okamoto would've made a better Wonder Woman than Gal Gadot, she had a lot more acting experience after all and had played a main lead in movies by that point unlike Gal Gadot before Wonder Woman. Just felt like a massively wasted opportunity and wasted talent on Zack Snyder's part. Mercy Graves could've also have been built up as a bigger character for her connections to Wonder Woman in the comics as an Amazon, it would've been clever to have had Mercy as acting CEO of Lexcorp after Lex's arrest and using his resources to keep an eye on Diana, with the revelation at the end of the movie that Hippolyta sent Mercy out into Man's World to watch over Diana and make sure she was safe (Which would've made a lot of sense, for a Queen to have done for the first Amazon to venture out into Man's World and also as a mother to want to protect her daughter). Tao Okamoto is also a really good and underrated actress, she had been cast in Dawn of Justice right after The Wolverine was released and she was the main female lead in that, which was hugely successful and she was at a high point in her career. Seriously, why did Zack Snyder love killing off all of Superman's supporting characters?Įmile Hamilton, Jimmy Olsen, Mercy Graves, all prominent supporting characters in the Superman mythos and Snyder just used them as background characters before killing them off - what was the point beyond racking up a blood count?
